It had the name of Choong Wan but changed it in the 80s when the Island Line (MRT Metro) started. Nowadays it is the key administrative, political and business district of the city. It has it all: imposing buildings, restaurants, malls, fashion boutiques, and prominent landmarks. The main streets here are Connaught Road, Des Voeux Road, Queen's Road, and Charter Road. It is very convenient to get to any point of the city from Central. From Hong Kong Island to Kowloon across Victoria Harbour you can take a ferry at the Star Ferry Pier. One can get to the Victoria Peak, which gives spectacular views over Central, by bus 15 from the Exchange Square Terminal. Hong Kong Station is the main railway station in the city. It is in the heart of Central, beneath IFC mall, and serves as a terminus for the Airport Express. Trains run every 10 minutes, and it takes 24 minutes to get to the airport. Also, there is a metro line to Disneyland here. The best option to access the station from different parts of Hong Kong is by MRT metro.
